How to prepare
A short plan for this career fair, based on its format, audience and details.
Before the fair
- Check the official page for the list of employers attending, then pick 3 to 5 you most want to meet.
- Put your portfolio or GitHub link on your resume, and add a QR code so employers can open it on the spot.
- Check which day each employer attends. Events over several days often change their employer list from one day to the next.
- Bring a resume in French or in both languages, and practise your introduction in French.
- Practise a 30-second introduction: who you are, what you do well and the kind of role you want next.
- Update your resume so the top third shows the roles and skills you want to talk about at this fair.
At the fair
- Arrive early. The first hour is usually quieter, and employers have more time to talk.
- Open with your 30-second introduction, then ask what the team is hiring for right now.
- After each conversation, write down the person's name, the role you discussed and what to follow up on.
- Pace yourself: visit your priority employers on the day they attend and leave time for talks or workshops.
What to bring
- Printed copies of your resume, more than you expect to need (10 to 20 for a large fair).
- A charged phone with your LinkedIn profile or portfolio ready to show.
- Resumes in French, or in both English and French.
- A portfolio link or a tablet with your work samples ready to show.
- A pen and a small notebook, or notes on your phone, to record names and next steps.
After the fair
- Send a short thank-you email within 24 hours to each person you spoke with, and mention something from your conversation.
- Apply online to the roles employers pointed you to, and mention that you met them at the fair.
- Connect on LinkedIn with a short note reminding them where you met.
