Before the fair
- Check the official page for the list of employers attending, then pick 3 to 5 you most want to meet.
- Know your co-op or internship dates and your graduation date. Employers will ask.
- Practise a 30-second introduction: who you are, what you do well and the kind of role you want next.
- Know when you can start and for how many months. Internship and co-op roles are often filled by term.
- Check how to get to Halifax Convention Centre, where to park and how long the trip takes, so you arrive calm.
- Update your resume so the top third shows the roles and skills you want to talk about at this fair.
- Write down the days and hours you can work. Part-time and seasonal hiring often comes down to availability.
At the fair
- Arrive by 9:45 a.m., about 15 minutes before the start, when lines are short and employers are fresh.
- Open with your 30-second introduction, then ask what the team is hiring for right now.
- After each conversation, write down the person's name, the role you discussed and what to follow up on.
